Mandate

UNOMS is the Office of the United Nations Ombudsman and Mediation Services, created in 2002 as the informal component of the UN administration-of-justice system. It provides independent, neutral, confidential and informal help to Secretariat employees and affiliated personnel with work-related concerns. Ombudsmen and mediators offer conflict coaching, options, facilitated dialogue and mediation; the Office also identifies systemic patterns while remaining separate from formal grievance and tribunal processes.
