Your career is personal. This policy explains what information IGO Jobs uses, why we use it and the choices available to you.
1. About this policy
IGO Jobs is an independent career platform for people exploring opportunities in the United Nations and other international organizations. This policy explains how information is handled when you browse igojobs.org, create an account, buy a PRO pass or use our career tools. It does not cover the separate websites of employers or other services you choose to visit.
2. Information you provide
Account information includes your name, email address, sign-in details, language and communication preferences. If you use Google sign-in, we receive the account information needed to authenticate you, such as your name, email address and profile image. Passwords for email sign-in are stored in hashed form.
Career information may include your CV, education, work history, skills, languages, professional links, job preferences, saved roles, application tracking records, tailored CVs and cover letters. Optional profile details include date of birth, gender, location, nationality and work authorization; they are used to show whether you meet a vacancy’s stated requirements. We also receive information you send when contacting us.
Provide only information relevant to your job search. Avoid including identity-document numbers, health information or confidential information about other people in your documents or free-text fields.
3. How we use information
We use information to operate accounts, display and manage your profile, match you with vacancies, save your job-search progress and provide the tools you request. We also use necessary information to respond to support requests, send account and security messages, prevent misuse and diagnose technical problems.
Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis, processing relies on providing the service you request, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the platform, compliance with legal obligations or your consent. You may withdraw consent for optional processing without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Job-alert preferences are separate from essential account messages.
4. AI tools and matching
Our AI tools combine code and AI. When you use them, the relevant text is sent to AI model providers to produce the result: reading an uploaded CV sends the CV’s contents, including any contact details it contains; profile analysis sends your profile text; tailored CVs and cover letters send the relevant profile sections and the vacancy. Requests go through OpenRouter, which routes them to model providers, and to Google’s Gemini service. For tailored CVs and cover letters, dedicated contact fields such as your email and phone number are not sent; code adds them to the final document. Personal information you write inside free-text fields may still be included.
Job matching compares the information in your profile with vacancy requirements. Scores, eligibility flags and AI output help you assess opportunities; they are not an employer’s hiring decision. You decide what to edit, download and submit.
5. Payments
PRO passes are sold and processed by Stripe, which acts as the merchant of record. Stripe collects your payment details, billing country and any information needed for taxes and receipts under its own privacy policy. We do not receive or store your card number. We keep a record of each purchase, such as the pass, amount, date and the Stripe reference, to provide access and handle refunds.
7. Sharing and service providers
We don’t sell your personal information. Service providers receive the information needed to support hosting, network delivery, sign-in, email, payments and the AI features you request: Cloudflare for network delivery and protection, Amazon Web Services for account and alert emails, Google for Google sign-in and Gemini, OpenRouter and the model providers it routes to for AI features, and Stripe for payments.
Following an employer’s application link takes you to a separate service governed by that organization’s privacy practices. Saving a job or generating a document on IGO Jobs does not itself send an application to an employer.
We may disclose information where required by law, to respond to a valid legal request or to protect people and the service from fraud or abuse. If operation of the platform is transferred, any transfer of personal information must remain subject to applicable data protection requirements.
8. Storage, security and retention
Our server and database, including your account, profile and documents, are hosted in the European Union. Service providers may process information in other countries. Where required, international transfers rely on an appropriate legal transfer mechanism and safeguards.
We use measures such as hashed passwords, session controls and access restrictions to protect account information. No online service offers absolute security. Protect your sign-in credentials and avoid using shared browser profiles for personal career records.
Information is kept while your account is active and as needed for security or legal obligations. When you delete your account in Settings, your profile, documents and account data are deleted. We keep only a one-way fingerprint of your email address so that free monthly credits cannot be reset by registering again, and any feedback you choose to give, which is detached from your account. Stripe keeps its own records of payments as the seller.
9. Your choices and rights
You can update your profile and communication preferences in the service, and delete your account in Settings. To request access to, correction of or a copy of your information, contact us using the address below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may also have rights to portability, restriction of processing or objection to certain processing. Some requests are subject to legal exceptions. You may raise a concern with your local data protection authority, including the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner where applicable.
10. Children and policy updates
The service is designed for people managing their professional careers and is not intended for anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate.
We may update this policy as the service or its data practices change. The date above identifies the latest version. Where a change requires additional notice or consent, we will provide that notice or request consent as applicable.
