Mission and objectives
socialprotection.org is an online, member-based, knowledge-sharing and capacity-strengthening platform, open to social protection practitioners, policymakers, and experts, as well as academics and students. The platform was launched on 12 September 2015, answering to a recommendation from the G20 Development Working Group in the aftermath of the triple crisis of the late 2000s to foster global knowledge-sharing on social protection policies.
Thanks to the contributions of its members, collaboration with stakeholders, and the dedication of the socialprotection.org team, it directs access to the most up-to-date and comprehensive content on social protection, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries. It provides free access to a plethora of interactive features, such as searchable databases of social protection publications, blogs, news, events, multimedia, databases, social protection programmes and legal and policy frameworks. Members can join Online Communities dedicated to prominent social protection topics and exchange Knowledge and collaborate. They can also access innovative learning tools, such as online courses, podcasts, webinars, livestream events, and be informed of the latest job and academic opportunities available in the field. In addition, the platform allows for members to contribute to the platform by submitting social protection-related content.
Context
Interviewing (“hearing”) child victims and witnesses of violence requires specialised skills, child sensitive procedures, and adherence to international child rights standards. The Orientation Guide for Interviewing (“Hearing”) the Child Victim of Violence and the Child Witness emphasises that interviews must be conducted in a manner that “ensures the child’s safety, dignity, and emotional wellbeing throughout the process.”
In Tunisia, child protection professionals—including social workers, police officers, psychologists, and judicial actors—play a central role in receiving disclosures, documenting testimonies, and ensuring appropriate referral pathways. Strengthening their capacity is essential to improving the quality of child hearings, reducing secondary victimisation, and ensuring that children’s voices are heard in a safe and rights based manner.
UNICEF Tunisia supports national institutions in enhancing child protection procedures, including through the development of digital learning tools that promote harmonised practices and continuous professional development. Building on this mandate, UNICEF and socialprotection.org will collaborate to digitalise and deploy an online course based on the Orientation Guide, ensuring wide accessibility, interactive learning, and long term sustainability.
